According to the Journal of Financial Planning, “By the time the average American reaches middle and high school age, few, if any, have actually learned about the power of good money management from their own parents.”
Couple that with the fact that we are not taught the basics of personal finance in grade school or even required to learn about credit management in college.
As a whole Americans are woefully undereducated on money matters, yet have the most access to the information necessary to become financially literate.
A few of the many glairing issues that result from this problem are:
